2012년부터 시작한 나의 감정의 기록인 형용사로서의 색채를 다시 돌아본다. 개인적 경험과 감정으로 만들어진 370개의 색으로부터 나는 그 시간에 충실하고자 했던 기억을 떠올렸다.  2011년 검은 침묵과 하얀 망각의 시간을 경험한 이후 그리움으로 시작된 이 시리즈는 변화무쌍한 나의 주변 환경 속에서 작업을 지속할 수 있는 끈이 되었다. 형용사로 구성된 단어와 색채는 마치 씨줄과 날줄처럼 다양한 회화적 실험으로 변용되어 나의 감각 세계를 기록하기 위한 단서가 된다.

형용사로서의 색채-생존기는 지난 10년간 나의 감성적 생존의 기록이자 색으로 그려진 개인 연감이다. 가늘고 긴, 그 여린 숨결, 그 순간적인 감각의 실현/호흡이 얼마나 소중하고 살아있음이 감사한 것인지를 새롭게 자각하면서 치열했던 그 감각들을 수평과 격자(그리드) 형태로 질서화한 것이다.  

수평 시리즈의 경우 각 연도마다 다른 크기의 평면을 하얀 망각과 검은 침묵으로 설정하고 그 속에서 감각적 수평선이 하나의 사건처럼 색의 스펙트럼을 이루도록 구성했다.

Grid 시리즈의 경우엔 동일한 정사각의 평면 위에 같은 면적의 색으로 구성하기 위해 각 연도에서 색을 선별하여 무작위로 구성했다. 화면 위 동등한 면적의 격자형 컬러필드는 자연에서 내가 느낀 차이를 가진 반복을 확인하고 그 다양함의 질서를 재구성하는 것이다. 그 색면의 배열은 반복되는 자연과 나의 감성이 만나는 은유의 장으로 다른 크기의 평면에서는 다른 구성으로 변화된다.

명사 시리즈는 불명확한 감정의 단어들인 형용사의 조합으로 그리는 내가 생각하는 현재의 명사적 개념의 그림이다. 처음으로 설정했던 단어인 ‘그리운’이라는 형용사와 색채는 2012년 특정 시간과 장소에서 느낀 깊고 사적인 감정의 표현이었다. 지금 나는 마치 모호한 실체가 짙은 안갯속에서 그 형체를 서서히 드러내듯이 ‘그리움’이라는 추상명사를 12개의 서로 다른 형용사의 조합으로 그린다. 

전시장 밖을 바라보고 있는 윈도우 갤러리의 경우 아직은 정의하지 못한 색의 기록을 전시한다. 여전히 모호하고 뒤엉킨, 나의 감각 세계로 끌어들여 알고 싶은 자연이 창 밖을 향하고 있다.

I look back at color as an adjective, a record of my emotions that I started in 2012. From the 370 colors created from personal experiences and emotions, I recalled the memory of trying to be faithful to that time.
After experiencing a time of black silence and white oblivion in 2011, this series, which started with longing, became a string that allowed me to continue my work in my ever-changing surroundings. Words and colors composed of adjectives are transformed into various pictorial experiments like weft and warp lines, becoming clues to record my sensory world.

Color as adjective -My survival story is a record of my emotional survival over the past 10 years and a personal yearbook drawn with color. The long and thin breath, the realization/realization of that momentary sense, is a new awareness of how precious and grateful to be alive.

In the case of the horizontal series, a plane of different size for each year was set as white oblivion and black silence, and the sensuous horizontal line formed a spectrum of colors like a single event.

In the case of the Grid series, in order to compose colors of the same area on the same square plane, colors were selected from each year and configured at random. The grid-type color field of equal area on the canvas confirms the repetition with the difference I felt in nature and reconstructs the order of diversity. The arrangement of the color planes is a field of metaphor where the repeated nature meets my sensibility, and it changes into a different composition on different sized planes.

The Noun series is a picture of the current noun concept that I think of as a combination of adjectives, which are words of ambiguous emotion. The adjective ‘longing’ and color, the first words set up, were expressions of deep and private emotions felt at a specific time and place in 2012. Now, I draw the abstract noun ‘longing’ as a combination of 12 different adjectives, as if an ambiguous entity slowly reveals its shape in a thick fog.

In the case of the window gallery facing the outside of the exhibition hall, records of colors that have not yet been defined are displayed. Still ambiguous and intertwined, nature that I want to know by drawing into the world of my senses is facing out the window.
