이 시리즈는 5mm의 변화하는 감정의 색을 최소화하고 3 가지의 색-감정을 더욱 밀접하게 대비시켜 본래 “형용사로서의 색채”가 가지고 있던 색감을 강조하고자 했다. “그 어딘가에” 시리즈는 5mm의 불명확했던 미묘한 색들에 중점을 두었다면 이번 수평 시리즈는 형용사로서의 색채가 좀 더 가깝게 연결되어 있다. 감정의 변화는 나의 경우 생각보다 예측불가능한 경우가 많았다. 불현듯 찾아오는 두려움, 설레임, 당혹스러움, 부끄러움 등 그것이 어떤 것이었는지 알기 위해서는 시간이 필요했다. 그림 구성에서 보이는 빈 공간은 그런 감정의 지연된 시간의 표현이다. 또한 과연 그것이 명확하고 진실된 감정-색일까?라는 언제나 스스로에게 질문하고 있는 불명확성의 평면적 공간이다.

내가 사용하는 색채는 과거의 어떤 시간, 어떤 순간에 다양한 감정의 변화 속에서 포착된 개별적인 형용사로서의 의미로 표현되었다. “아직은 아닌”에서 구성되는 색과 비정형적인 형태의 관계는 아직은 확실하게 정의 내릴 수 없는, 어떤 추상명사에 대한 채워지지 않은 진술서와 같다.

정사각형 종이 위에 임의로 설정된 사각형은 나에게 주어진 회화적 제한조건으로 한 면이 열린 직사각형에 특정 감정의 색을 칠한다. 다양한 크기와 형태의 사각형은 완결되지 않은 구조와 미처 다 칠해지지 못하는 감정의 색을 갖게 된다. 이것은 남겨진 바탕 위, 미완의 구조 속에서 채워질 수 없는 혹은 넘쳐흐르는 감정의 은유다.

The colors I use are couched in the meanings of freestanding adjectives that were captured in the past at a certain moment. The relation between composing colors and atypical forms is like an incomplete statement on an abstract noun that cannot be clearly defined as of yet.

칠하다_Painted
Since 2016 ongoing, Various sizes, Pencil and acrylic on Canson-Monval paperA randomly placed quadrilateral on a square piece of paper is a pictorial condition given to me. It has one side that remains open and is painted in a color that refers to a specific emotion. Quadrilaterals which vary in size and shape come to have incomplete structures and not yet painted colors of feelings. They are a metaphor for emotions that cannot be filled or overflow in an unfinished structure left on the ground.Fabriano-Terra paper
