예술종합상사 봄과 갤러리 결이 공동 기획한 “I AM ART” 전시가 12월 18일부터 29일까지 성수동에 위치한 갤러리 결에서 개최됩니다. 이번 행사는 2020년 1월 15일 독일 베를린 패션주간에 독일의 기획자들과 예술가들의 초청을 받아 L40 Berlin에서 단독으로 개최되는 <BOMSTATION Europe launch: Wearable art runway show>를 축하하고 프로젝트에 참여한 이경, 박상혁 작가의 작품을 소개하기 위해 준비되었습니다.

12월 18일 6시 오픈식과 더불어 한해를 보내는 연말 파티와 참석자들을 위한 푸짐한 선물들도 준비되어 있으니 친구분들 많이 참석해 즐거운 시간 함께 보냈으면 합니다.

서울과 브라운슈바익(Braunschweig), 두 문화예술 공간에서 교육받은 이경은 형식과 내용 면에서 환경과 상호작용하는 방식을 나타낸다. 그녀의 작업인 ‘형용사로서의 색채(CAA=Color as adjective)’ 시리즈는 2012년부터 시작되어 현재까지 진행되고 있다. 이경은 개인의 감정을 표현하는 단어와 색채의 조합을 탐구하여 새로운 의미체계를 만들어낸다. 그녀는 인간 감정의 모호성과 변화무쌍한 감각을 표현하는 것이다.
<길 위의 생명을 위한 파빌리온>은 일상에서 접하는 수 많은 죽음 가운데 하나인 로드킬-그 피빛 흔적은 언제나 문명과 자연, 인간과 또 다른 생명들과의 관계에 대해 고민하게 한다. 임시적이고 조형적인 구조물과 연결하여 길 위의 생명을 위한 파빌리온으로 대지 위에 설치된다. <1면-뭉클한, 2면-굳센, 아로새긴, 3면-고독한, 소중한, 가련한, 4면-막연한, 두려운, 애끓는, 애틋한>이다. 이 작업은 모든 생명을 기리며 부르는 작가의 애가이며, 하나의 제의적 제스처다.

 

Pavilion for Life on the Road

LEE Kyong studied in two major cities that are rich art and culture, Seoul, Korea, and Braunschweig, Germany. She interacts with an environment in terms of its form and content. The ‘Color as adjective (CAA)’ project began in 2012 and is still continuing. LEE Kyong investigates associations between a word and a color to build a system of new meanings. She tries to express the ambiguity and changeability of emotions and senses of human.
<Pavilion for Life on the Road> was inspired by roadkills, which is one of the many deaths we encounter in everyday life. The blood trail from roadkills make us think about the relationship between civilization and nature, man and other live beings. This work is installed on the ground to serve as a pavilion for life on the road. My previous series of works are arranged with temporary and formal structures. I carefully selected ten keywords for the colored structures: touched(Plane 1), strong, engraved on my mind(Plane 2), lonesome, precious, pitiful(Plane 3), indefinite, fear, devastated, affectionate(Plane 4). This work is a ritual gesture and an elegy for all living beings.

나의 개인적 감정을 표현하는 단어와 색채의 조합은 어떻게 만들어졌는가를 시간과 함께 기록한 작업 – 형용사로서의 색채를 위한 종이 위에 한 작업을 개인 홈페이지에 업로드했다. (2015~2017)
현재 다양한 형식으로 확장되고 있는 ‘형용사로서의 색채’를 바탕으로 한 작업들의 첫번째 과정으로 2012년부터 현재까지 진행하고 있다. 개인적인 일상과 감정, 사건들이 많은 영향을 미치기 때문에 일년에 많을 때는 70여개, 적게는 2~30여개를 만들고 있다. 나는 올해 현재 29개를 만들었다.

 

Uploaded works on paper/Drawing for Color as an adjective, from 2015 to 2017 on my homepage – a time-based work of how the combination of words and colors expressing my personal emotions was created.

It is the first step of the works based on ‘color as an adjective’ that is currently being extended to various formats, from 2012 to the present. My personal daily life, feelings, and events have a lot of influence, so I made more than 70 Colors in a year and less than 2 to 30 Colors in a year. Now I made 29 Colors as of this year.

잠시, 신이었던 것들
2018 태화강국제설치미술제 ‘잠시, 신이었던 것들’는 태화강에서 삶의 터전으로 만들고 구축해온 인간을 비롯한 수많은 액터들의 이야기, 그리고 그들이 만들어온 것들을 다루고자 한다. 수많은 액터들에 의해 형성되어온 것들에 내재된 시간은 과거와 미래가 얽혀, 서로 충돌하고 횡단되는 그 일시적이고 찰나적 현재를 사유하고자 한다.
인간-물질-기호 등의 상호작용 속에서 ‘테라포밍(terraforming)된 태화강, 우리가 사는 곳의 이야기를 담아낼 것이다. 반구대 암각화에 기록된 태화강, 산업화를이뤄냈던 태화강, 지금은 시민들의 여가의 장소 태화강 등, 이곳은 다양한 모습으로 변이되고 변신되면서도 항상 사람들과 있었다.
이번 전시는 수많은 액터들에 의해 집단 창작된 신화와 창작물, 그곳에서 창발돼온 자연문화, 중첩되고 얽혀진 시간, 삶과 놀이, 죽음과 제의들을 다루고자 한다.

2018 Taehwa River Eco Art Festival, ‘Once a God – The Myth of Future Refugees’, is about the outcome and process of how nature has been created and formed by human beings, as well as many other actors living near the Taehwa River. The interaction among human, material, and symbol led to the terraforming of Earth. The Taehwa River reflects various forms, such as a place for monumental petroglyphs, industrialization, and leisure. The river always has been transformed and still transforming along with human beings.
This exhibition aims to become the product of the boundary formed between nature and culture, by discovering and witnessing the physiological metaphors rooted in the ecological and cultural surroundings of the Taehwa River and the fables inspired by the river.
